Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of William “Bill” James Maguire Jr. a loving and dedicated husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. Bill passed away on June 24, 2025 after a courageous battle with kidney disease at the age of 80.

Bill was born to William and Cecilia Maguire, on Oct 21,1944 in Philadelphia PA. He grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from John Bartram High School in 1962 and serving as a Marine reservist after high school. He had a lifelong career in the casino entertainment business in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

Bill was a loving and dedicated husband to Kyenam. They were blessed to share a beautiful 43-year love story filled with laughter, adventures, friendship and travel. Visiting Korea, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamica and trips to see their children and grandchildren. His quiet humble nature, love for all “Philadelphia foods” (cheesesteaks, pretzels, scrapple, tasty cakes), The Wildwood boardwalk, beaches and his kind heart will be missed by all.

Bill is survived by his wife and best friend, Kyenam; daughter Stacie Axelson and grandchildren Cole and Chase Axelson ; stepchildren John, Kim Marie, Kimberly and Joshua Fleig; and beloved grandchildren

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Middletown Korean Church, 1125 Jamison Corner Rd, Middletown, DE 19709 on 7/12/2025 at 12 pm
