Rachel Steele-Smith

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Rachel Wedgie Steele-Smith of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, who passed peacefully from this world on June 3, 2026, at the age of 50.

Born on May 4, 1976 in Bound Brook, New Jersey, Rachel was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Bernadine Wedgie. She carried the warmth of her roots throughout her life — growing up with a spirit that was generous, vivid, and unmistakably her own, thanks in most part to her loving Grandparents.

A graduate of Bound Brook High School, she went on to build a fulfilling career as a Training Specialist, a role that placed her exactly where she thrived: nurturing others, sharpening minds, and making people feel capable of more than they thought possible.

In 2026, Rachel married her best friend, soul mate, and partner, Donald C. Smith, a love story that had been quietly unfolding since October 2014. Though their time as husband and wife was brief, what they built together was anything but small — a life woven from shared laughter, devotion, and the kind of understanding that doesn't require explanation.

Rachel is survived by the people who carry her forward: her beloved daughter, Michaela (Mykie) of Norriton, Pennsylvania; her sister-in-law, Suzanne Gorman of Alabama; her cherished best friend, Ann Kline; her devoted husband, Donald; and the four-legged family member she adored — Ollie, their fur-baby who knew exactly where the warmest lap in the room was.

In keeping with Rachel's wishes, she generously donated her physical body to the Gift of Life. There will be no funeral service or viewing. She asked instead that those who loved her hold her close in memory and carry a little of her light into whatever comes next.

She was loved. She is missed. She is remembered.

Dear Mom, you are so missed and so loved, you demonstrated a type of care and love that was best heard through all of the little moments, it pains us all that you had to leave us so soon. I hope one day I can learn to love the way you do, with patience, selflessness, and unwaivering loyalty to those around you. I know that you are with Granny and Pa now, bathed in light, peace, and love. You continue to inspire me everyday, and I am so proud to be your daughter.

What a bright light and an amazing person you were. I will always remember the conversation we had and the hat and gloves you sent me when it was so cold. Your heart was beautiful and I will always be grateful to have called you my “sis”. Thank you for everything you did in your life to help people and I know you are now resting in the arms of Jesus. Fly high my dear friend!

Rachel, There are no words in any language that would express how much I miss you. You are my soulmate, my best friend, and you complete me- however I know that at least now you are with the Lord bathed in his Glory where you will laugh and smile throughout eternity. No More Tears, No More Stress, No more Worries, no more phone calls, My love. May you finally have the peace of Mind, body, and Spirit that you deserved for the last 5 decades. You're with Granny and Pa now, Rachel, and they, too, will hold you in their loving embrace until you and I are together again. All my love, your HuggieBear, Don.
