Obituary

Norman Sawyer passed away peacefully on December 15. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean DMZ conflict, where he also trained dolphins, an uncommon role that reflected his intelligence, adaptability, and sense of adventure.

Norman shared a lifelong friendship with Tommy O’Connor, whom he met in grade school. Their bond endured for decades, marked by humor and affection. Norman especially enjoyed reminding Tommy that he had kissed Tommy’s (future) wife—back in the fourth grade, a story he told with a grin that never got old.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Elizabeth Monteverde, and his cherished nephew and niece, Alexander Monteverde and Amanda Monteverde. He is also survived by his extended family, who will carry his memory forward.

Norman will be remembered for his service, loyalty, quick wit, and the warmth he brought to those lucky enough to know him.
