Roy J. Hammond, 89, of Browns Mills, NJ, left us on March 27, 2023. Roy was predeceased by his wife, (Rose) Marie (Bozarth), daughter in law Lorrie Hammond, and granddaughters, Becky Clark, Renee Statton, Jessica Hammond and Rylan Ditzel. Roy is survived by his children Terry (Hammond) Clark, Sandra Hammond, Roy (Jimmy) Hammond Jr., Rita (Hammond) and Jeffrey Grmek, grandchildren Amy (Clark) and Jon Powell, Ryan and Lexi Clark, Jessica Martinez, Brandon Hammond (also Roy's devoted caregiver), Jennifer (Hammond) and Matt Ditzel, Ashley Hammond, Sierra Grmek, Jeffrey Grmek and 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Roy was born in East Killingly, CT October 12, 1933, moved to NJ in 1957, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was married to his wife Marie for 60 years. Roy was very proud of his service during the Korean War, never going anywhere without his Korean War Vet hat. Roy worked for Hartford Steam Boiler Company 1965-1998. Roy was a very respected PAL baseball coach in the 1970s impacting many with his patience and love of the sport. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and was looking forward to the start of the new season. Roy was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Browns Mills and the Browns Mills Senior Center. He lived a life filled with love, surrounded by his family, and was always known for his kindness and sense of humor. Graveside Military Honor Service to be held April 14, 2023, 12:00 pm, at Odd Fellows II Cemetery, Pemberton, NJ 08068 with a luncheon to follow at United Methodist Church Hall in Browns Mills, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the United Methodist Church.
