Vincent Lee Weston aka Amir was born to Cleveland Griffin and Blondell Ballard on September 29, 1963 in Belhaven, NC. Vincent grew up in Newark, NJ (a Newark kid) where he lived a festive, colorful, momentous and joyous life (he had a lot of stories about his childhood and his young adult years which will have you rolling). Vincent leaves behind his wife Pauline, his daughters Amatuallah and Cassia, his son Jamon, and granddaughters Akyla and Az’zahria. He was predeceased by his mother Blondell, brother Fuquan, and sister Valerie aka Tweety. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his Dad Cleveland Griffin, brothers Rasul, Donte, Malik, and Ab, his sisters Clevette, Cleveena, Christine, Danielle, Mueedna, and Wahaba; his very close-knit family the Ballards, plus a host of nieces, nephews, extended families, and friends. Vincent worked as a laborer doing heavy duty construction for 16 years with Sambol Construction, Caruso, Kyle Conti, and Laborers Local Union 472, to name a few. He also had a passion for music and cooking, which he shared with everyone near and far. He loved creating new meals to tantalize our palates, and he was ever ready to provide help to those in need. He always encouraged others to be independent thinkers, thinking things through instead of accepting whatever was presented to them by the masses. Vincent loved his fellow brothers and sisters (mankind) and was a true humanitarian with a big heart. He left a lasting impact with everyone he came in contact with.Vincent was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer on November 8th, 2018 and has fought a good fight. He departed this life on Saturday June 8, 2019, exactly 6 months following his diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer. Vincent died peacefully at home. Memorial service to celebrate his life and legacy will be at The Renaissance located at 1110 Highway 35, Ocean Township, NJ on Sunday June 23rd, 2019, from 1pm to 5pm.
