Date of Death: November 25, 2016
Sue Wester AGE 73 – Millburn, New Jersey Sue Wester, of Millburn, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016, at Care One at Livingston Assisted Living Facility. She was 73. Born in Bristol, Tennessee, she resided in Millburn for most of the past 30+ years. A teacher with a Masters degree from Bank Street College of Education in New York City, Sue taught in Metuchen from 1982 to 2004. She began her career in Metuchen teaching Kindergarten, first at Edgar School, then at Moss. In her final 2 years, she moved to Campbell School, where she taught 2nd graders. Animals and the environment were lifelong passions of Sue’s. She loved cats, and besides having a couple of cats of her own, she fed and captured strays, so they could be neutered and re-released into the wild, thus reducing the population of animals with no homes. She also loved horses from a young age, owning and jumping her own horse “Rock Candy” when she was growing up, then acting as a judge at four-in-hand events for the US Equestrian Team in Bedminster. Whales as an endangered species were also a keen interest of Sue’s, and she once made a huge whale and took it into the classroom to inspire her children and teach them about the importance of caring for these majestic creatures. The Church was also an important part of Sue’s life. She was active at the Presbyterian Church at New Providence for many years, and later worshipped at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church. Sue is survived by her husband Paul, step-daughter Laura, and two grandchildren, Andrew and David.
