Steven Allen Brewster of Placida, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2020 at the age of 70. Steve was born on April 17, 1950 in California, Missouri. His parents, Dudley and Geraldine (Hawley) Brewster moved the family to Casper, Wyoming when Steve was 7 years old. He graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1968, and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Steve served four years on the USS Tiru (SS416) submarine. After his discharge, Steve returned to Casper, Wyoming and worked in management at Buttrey's Food Store until he was offered an opportunity to instruct open water scuba diving for Stouffer's Resort in the US Virgin Islands. He spent the next eight years in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands before relocating to Englewood, Florida. Steve then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from Florida Gulf Coast University. After graduating, he went to work for Giffels-Webster Engineers, Inc. in Englewood, Florida as an Environmental Scientist until his retirement in 2012. Steve will be loved and missed by his surviving companion and best friend, Evonne Pugh, her children, Nicole (Jeff) Jackmack, Naples, Florida and Megan (Mike) Moses, Ohatchee, Alabama, his sister Marla (Bruce) Heberlein of Casper, Wyoming together with several nieces, nephews, and close friends. Steve was a true adventurist and traveler. His hobbies and interests were many. He obtained both his pilot's license and boat captain's license. Steve enjoyed diving, sailing his sailboat, riding his Harley Davidson, and taking long rides on his bicycle. For the last 9 years, Steve and Evonne have spent the summers in Ajijic, Mexico where Steve enjoyed hiking, the Mexican culture, and spending time with their many friends. Steve was engaging, intelligent, knowledgeable, and had a passion for always learning new things. At Steve's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Steve's favorite NPR radio station, WGCU. (https://wgcu.org/news)
