Rudolph F Idec Jr.
Date of Death: February 19, 2020
Rudolph Idec – often going by “Pop,” “Rudy,” or “Sonny” – passed away on February 19, 2020, in his home in Colonia, NJ. He was in the presence of his loving wife, Jean Idec. Born in Linden and a lifelong NJ resident, Rudy was a kind and caring man who loved his family deeply. He was an avid reader, particularly of nonfiction books. Many will remember him for being passionate about sports, especially football. He also loved horse racing and could often be found on nice summer days at Monmouth Park, giving his novice family members advice on how to place bets. Rudy also enjoyed older movies and music, and was delighted to find all such materials on YouTube. Rudy was always like a father to his grandchildren, and absolutely adored his great grandson who was born less than a year ago. Rudy was also a great cook (his spaghetti sauce was a family favorite) with an even greater sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Rudy is survived by daughter Connie Martin and her partner Joseph Kolodka, granddaughter Andrea Adler and her husband Matt, grandson Jeffrey Martin, great grandson Beau Adler, brothers Regis and Raymond, and sisters Janice, Andrea, Nancy, and Lynda. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Idec as well as his siblings Barbara, Richard, Ronald, Russell, and Robert and his parents Rudolph Frank Idec Sr. and Sophie Simpson. A service for Rudy will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Linden, NJ on Thursday, February 27th, at 10:00 AM.
