Mark Antony Alston, 60, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2020, at home in Asbury Park, NJ. Prior to living in Asbury Park Mark was a lifelong resident of Long Branch, NJ, and a 1978 graduate of Long Branch High School. Mark had natural culinary skills and as a young man, he was often at the stove preparing delicious meals for the family. He also enjoyed playing basketball on the hoops located across the street from his house. Mark’s favorite activity and frequent mode of transportation was his bicycle. He could be seen near and far peddling and weaving the roads like a professional cyclist. He always stopped to chat with friends and neighbors on his route. After high school, Mark followed in the footsteps of his father and brother and began working with horses at the local racetrack. He also had a knack with detailing cars and worked at a prominent auto shop in his home town. Mark found comfort in reading his Bible daily. He had a big smile and a clever sense of humor. Mark was quick to offer his help and assistance to anyone in need. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and loyal friend. Mark’s presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mark was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Elaine Alston, brothers Gary and Michael Alston, niece Chawntel Jones, and sister Joyce Alston Boyd. He is survived by nieces Kelly Edwards, Keonda Schenck, Misty Melonson, Nephew Michael Schenck, a host of loving cousins, and dear friends.
