Jean Mary Kawecki of Hampton, NJ, formerly of Montclair, NJ, traveled on peacefully in her home on June 1st, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Jean was born on June 24th, 1926 in Liverpool, England. Her parents were Donald McRae Cameron and Doris Hankey. For 58 years Jean was married to her devoted husband Wladek Kawecki who passed in 2007. They had three children, Suzanne, Paul, and Stefan. Until her death, Jean was cared for by Stefan, her only surviving child. In addition Jean leaves behind four granddaughters: Aliza, Kayla, Cloe, and Emma, as well as her dog Tasha. Jean was an accomplished sculptor with a prolific body of work that spanned over five decades. Her work is represented in various private, public, and corporate collections throughout the country and abroad. Primarily her work was displayed by Broadfoot and Broadfoot Gallery in NY, NY and Boonton, NJ. Jean was admired by her many friends and family for her integrity, intelligence, and creativity. She had deep compassion for all living things. With her husband Wladek she traveled to many countries and loved to hear stories of adventure in her later years. She was very generous in her contributions to various causes in the the arts, humanities, and the environment. To quote her: Nature provides my medium. Since I use found stone and found wood combined with other natural materials such as bones, coral and bark, I spend a lot of time wandering through the woods, the quarry or the stone yard. There, I find an abundance of form, color and texture that I can use to express my responses to the many aspects of the human scene.
