She was born and raised in Perth Amboy and graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1951. She was employed by N.J. Bell, Korvette's, and Dr. Ghanekar. Claire was charismatic, compassionate, thoughtful and loving. A devout Catholic, she was always praying for everyone. She was a Matriarch, a rock for so many. Always there to comfort you in your time of need. Her greatest joy and her biggest treasure was her Family. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether it was a small gathering, a party, or a week down on Long Beach Island. She enjoyed traveling, beautiful Hawaiian sunsets, and the changing seasons. In the fall, she would love to take trips to New England through the mountains to see the fall foliage. All things God's nature and God's love. She had a talent for arranging flowers, something she loved to do. She saw the beauty in everyone and everything she did. She choose to live her life to the fullest, dedicated to her family, and to God. Claire made her mark on life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she knew. She was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Perth Amboy, where she forged friendships and life long bonds with the community. It is there that she was President of the Rosary Society for many years. Claire was proud of her Slovakian heritage and told countless stories from her many memories. Loved by so many, she will be missed, but she is with God, all the Angels and the Saints, and all those she loves who have passed before her. We will always carry her memories in our hearts, forever. She is predeceased by her children Karen Kozna, Christopher Counterman and Sharon Counterman, her brother Richard Kirkman.
